Mission Statement I did my articles with Price Waterhouse and it was this experience that made me look to a more effective way of service provision.

My post qualifying experience was working with a firm in Zimbabwe two years after the liberation struggle had ceased. It was here that I first became involved in working in the social economy sector, supporting ex combatants from the armed struggle in setting up workers co-ops. We also believe in the importance of capacity building for our clients, through appropriate support empowering the organisation to control and understand their systems and responsibilities. We work with experts on SAGE, QuickBooks and Mind Your Own Business, who will come in and give appropriate support to enable the organisation to use these systems effectively.

Nationally I am a member of the Charity Practitioner Forum. This is a network of accountancy firms specialising in the audit of charities and other organisations in the social economy. We meet bi-monthly to discuss new issues arising in the charity field as well as giving support and co-mentoring for members. We are able to offer specialist VAT consultants. We positively promote cultural diversity within our network and our client members.

I also work closely with the Avon and Bristol Community Law Centre on constitutional issues for charities and community groups. Our clients include:

  • Charities and not for profit organisations involved in the arts: e.g. ACTA Community Theatre, Misfits Theatre Company, Art + Power, KEAP, KidzRUs
  • Multi ethnic organisations: e.g. Support Against Racist Incidents, Avon and Bristol Chinese Women’s Group, Black Carers
  • Advice Centres: e.g. Gloucester Law Centre, Avon and Bristol Community Law Centre,
  • Organisations in the field of disability: e.g. People First [National], Cornwall People First
  • Credit Unions and C.I.C.s also a speciality
