Profile
As a Chartered Accountant I provide consultancy service to the not for profit sector. After 40+ years working in practice, with long-term clients, as well as sometimes helping steer organisations through a crisis, I now concentrate on support for boards.
In the last few years my work has included
• Assisting in strategic decision making
• Solvency advice,
• assistance in developing accounting systems using modern electronic systems
• risk management
Whilst in practice my clients have ranged from small local groups to national charities. In addition to accounting, and audit services on an ongoing basis, I am known for my work in crisis management and turnaround.
For many years I had a national profile, having been on the SORP (charity account practice setting) Committee, and as chair the ICAEW charity group. Latterly I was head of charity services at a major national accounting practice, and was a Visiting Fellow, and lectured on the Charity Finance MSc. at the Cass Centre for Charity Effectiveness.
In addition to consultancy support to charities and social enterprises, I am active as a trustee, and honorary advisor to a number of charities – nationally, and recently in the Cambridge area.
In my spare time my family get me out and about to an eclectic selection of activities – some cultural, and some more active, for instance cycling and dancing (badly).
I am now aiming to get the work/life balance better – whilst continuing to engage with the Not for Profit Sector.
